04 November 2025 Global: Para Rowing Foundation (PRF) and EXR, the pioneering virtualindoor rowing application, have joined forces to help para athletes train, connect, and compete as part of a global community.
Through the partnership, para athletes can access a 25% discount on EXR subscriptions. Any funds PRF receives will be used to provide programs, equipment, and opportunities for para athletes at every stage, from those discovering the sport to elite rowers preparing for
international competition.
Rowing is one of the most effective full body workouts, using more than 85 percent of the body’s muscles, building strength and endurance while remaining low impact. Most gyms and training spaces have a rowing machine, but for many para athletes, access to coaching, adaptive support, and connection with others is still a challenge. This partnership helps break down those barriers by giving para athletes new ways to train and be part of a connected rowing world.
EXR connects to any Bluetooth enabled rowing machine, such as Concept2*, WaterRower and RP3 models, so athletes can row through virtual courses, train with others online, and feel part of a global rowing community. PRF branding now appears in the game, giving para athletes recognition and visibility every time they row.
"Rowing builds strength, confidence, and connection, but too many para athletes still face
barriers to the sport." said Steven Dowd, Executive Chair of Para Rowing Foundation. "By working with EXR, we can make indoor rowing more accessible and bring para athletes together as part of a truly global community."
"Rowing should be fun and open to everyone. With PRF, we can create a space where para
athletes can row together, stay motivated, and feel part of something bigger" said Maxim Van Ginneken, Business Director for EXR. "We are proud to support para athletes and welcome Para Rowing Foundation as our first charity partner."
Over 1.3 billion people, around 16 percent of the world’s population, live with a disability. This
partnership is designed to open more doors for that global community to experience the strength, fitness, and connection indoor rowing can offer.
