PROGRAM

The +1 Program began with a simple but powerful question:
How can we make para rowing more equitable, inclusive, and accessible while keeping it simple?
Our answer: “Start by adding one.”
One athlete. One conversation. One piece of equipment. One change that opens the door for others.
The +1 Program is our commitment to reducing barriers in para rowing, one step at a time. It is about creating a ripple effect where every small action adds up to meaningful, lasting change.
Current Focus: +1 Loan Program
-
Many para athletes struggle to access the adaptive equipment they need to train or race.
-
The Equipment Loan Program provides short-term loans of essential items like racing seats, pontoons, and stabilisers so that athletes can stay on the water and in the sport.
One athlete. One piece of kit. One step toward equity.

Who is this for?
-
EVERYONE! You help bring one more athlete into our sport and into a community that sees ability not limitation
+1 Program Includes:
-
Focused attention towards expanding the network of para support
-
Concentrated targeted goals based on the feedback about what athletes need
Why It Matters?
-
Inclusion should not wait
-
This program is designed to show everyone that para rowing is not just for a few - it's for everyone
-
Word of mouth means increased opportunities across the world

Current Initiative: +1 Loan Program
Powering athletes with impairments, +1 piece of kit at a time
PRF’s new ‘+1 Program’ comes to life through real action - and the first initiative we’re proud to launch is the ‘+1 Loan Program’.
The PRF Loan Program is simple but powerful.
It provides adaptive rowing equipment to international athletes and clubs who need it most as they enter the sport or seek to fulfil their potential… kit that can be re-loaned, again and again.

It’s the fixed seat that lets someone get back on the water after a traumatic spinal cord injury.

It’s the adaptive grip that helps an athlete reclaim their strength and confidence with an oar when recovering from stroke.

It’s the erg that allows an entire generation of young club athletes with impairments to find their fitness and ignite their ambitions.
PRF has an existing stock of loan equipment. Through this initiative we are looking to grow its size and impact by asking you to simply +1 item today.
But which item? For inspiration and transparency, commonly-loaned equipment and associated costs are:

$ 100 - an Active Hands adaptive grip aid for athletes with impaired hand function.

$ 250 - a T2 IsoTrainer fitness multitool for use by seated or standing athletes.

$ 750 - a pair of professional sculling oars.

$ 1500 - a tall Concept2 rowing machine, more easily accessed by wheelchair users.

$ 2500 - a full PRF-designed high-performance seat setup for a fixed seat athlete.

Leave it to PRF to decide who needs what most.
